Overview
Patagonia is the end of the world — and the beginning of something extraordinary. This 10-day expedition takes you through the most dramatic landscape in South America: the granite towers of Torres del Paine, the electric-blue face of Perito Moreno Glacier, and the vast, silent steppe where gauchos still ride.
Every day is earned. You will hike through valleys that feel prehistoric, watch condors spiral above peaks that have no names on most maps, and fall asleep to the sound of glacial ice cracking in the darkness. This is adventure travel in its purest form — no crowds, no compromise, no signal.
WorldAdventure designed this route for experienced travelers who want to feel small in the best possible way.

Punta Arenas → Estancia Helsingfors (45 mi)
Arrive in Punta Arenas, the southernmost city in continental South America. Meet your expedition guide and transfer to Estancia Helsingfors, a working Patagonian ranch where gauchos still tend thousands of sheep. Afternoon orientation hike across the windswept steppe, spotting guanacos and Patagonian hares. Welcome dinner with views toward the Strait of Magellan.

A genuine working ranch on 25,000 acres of pristine steppe. Stone lodge with fireplace, candlelit dining.
Meals
Welcome dinner at the estancia
Estancia Helsingfors → Torres del Paine (90 mi)
Drive to Torres del Paine National Park. Begin the legendary W-Trek with a hike to Laguna Cumbre, where three granite towers pierce the sky. These 10,000-foot spires have no maintained trails to the base — our certified guide leads the backcountry route. Camp at Refugio Las Torres.
Highlights
Accommodation
Refugio Las Torres
Mountain refuge at the base of the towers. Heated dormitory, shared kitchen, wood stove.
Meals
Packed lunch on the hike; camp dinner
Refugio Las Torres → Paine Valley (8 mi)
Full day trekking through Paine Valley — a remote cirque surrounded by hanging glaciers and unnamed peaks. Cross pristine streams and traverse talus slopes where condors circle overhead. Camp beside a turquoise lagoon at the valley's heart. Only 20 trekkers per day are permitted on this route.

Mountain camp
Wilderness camp beneath Paine Grande. Camp chef prepares hot meals. Clear night sky for stargazing.
Meals
Packed lunch; hot camp dinner
Paine Valley → Refugio Grey (9 mi)
Hike to Grey Lake and kayak among icebergs calving from Grey Glacier. This massive glacier feeds a turquoise meltwater lake where 10-story-tall chunks of ice drift silently. Return to Refugio Grey for a hot meal and the sound of ice cracking in the darkness.
Highlights
Accommodation
Refugio Grey
Modern lodge on the shore of Grey Lake. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the glacier.
Meals
Packed lunch by the lake; hot dinner at refuge
Refugio Grey → French Valley → Hostería Lago Grey (7 mi + transfer)
Break from the W-Trek for an exclusive day hike into French Valley, a high alpine basin rarely visited by tourists. Hike beneath the north face of Paine Grande and traverse wild terrain where pumas hunt guanacos. Afternoon transfer to Hostería Lago Grey.

Punta Arenas → El Calafate (flight + transfer)
